To the hospital again

This time it’s Buboy that was hospitalized, but his is for a far more serious reason.

Buboy called me from work Monday night, July 20, asking for a pill to help him with his headache. I thought he was just having one of his migraine attacks. When we met to go home later he complained of fever. He was burning hot when I touched him. It was a hard effort for him to drive home and the two-hour traffic made it even worst. I was really worried but we thought it was just flu. Buboy slept immediately when we reached the house while I stayed up late until past 2:00am watching over him, wiping him with a wet towel to bring down the fever. We stayed at home the following day, Buboy regularly taking Biogesic to calm the high fever down and Alaxan to ease the body pain. Early morning of Wednesday, chills came and that’s when I decided to bring him to the hospital.

It is really hard when the only person who knows how to drive is sick. We had to ask one of the neighbors to bring us to the nearest hospital. After some blood and urine tests the ER doctor decided to admit Buboy. The doctor who followed-up on us that afternoon said Buboy has a viral infection and they still have to verify if it is typhoid fever or dengue. We learned it was dengue late that night. Buboy became like a pin cushion with the multiple blood extraction to monitor his platelets. The doctor said he has to eat so his body can fight but Buboy has no appetite. He was released from the hospital on the third day of his confinement. His platelets are stable, his fever is gone, and his appetite is back… and I am just so thankful.

The experience wasn’t good for both Buboy and me. I was so worried but I dare not show him that because I don’t want him to worry about me too. I texted my family and close friends to ask them to pray for Buboy especially during the time when the doctors are still not sure what is wrong with him. I am very thankful because everyone texted back and I know they all prayed for Buboy. Then there was the issue of where he was placed in the hospital. We used the HMO given by the Company he works for. His coverage is only for a ward room which would be okay if it was in a hospital where ward rooms are still nice. I kept thinking that if we were in Pasig when this happened, it would have been easier to bring him to Medical City where ward rooms are so much more pleasant. Good thing Mama visits and bring fresh supplies everyday.

But nevertheless, Buboy is well again and we are home again, that is what’s important. I pray he won’t be so sick again… that neither of us be sick again.

We have a new living space!

Not really new… more like newly cleaned and decluttered room. Nevertheless, I am happy with what we have and what we did with it last weekend. Yup, it was a long weekend spent in a good way.

Buboy wasn’t actually feeling well last weekend. His tonsils were swelling and his temperatures were up to 38˚C. But he was so sweet to indulge me and help start the cleaning. He knows I wanted to rearrange the furniture for some time now. We started Friday and finished everything before it gets dark on Saturday. And by the time we finished Buboy’s temperature was down to 37.5˚C.

After we moved the bed, the cabinet, the tables and other things and after we threw away several kilos of thrash including old bags, shoes, boxes, papers, etc. we discovered a lot more space to move around the room. We have places for our collection of movies (CDs and DVDs) and books. Aside from that, we now have some sort of separate sleeping area and work area (where the PC and other electronic stuff are located) and in between is a space where we can move around without bumping to each other all the time. And with the new 19” LCD monitor that we bought last Thursday, we can watch movies together in bed without being too close to the PC. He can also play his games while I read on the bed without disturbing each other. I really cannot believe how our room looks so much bigger after the general cleaning.

Of course we had to do some adjustments with things like sleeping. With the bed moved to a different direction, our positions interchanged. I now have to sleep on Buboy’s right side whereas we were used to me sleeping on his left. But that isn’t really a problem because five years ago we were both used to sleeping alone :o)

I just hope we can maintain it that way for (at least) more than a year. Ha!

What happened to summer?

Buboy and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary and Mox her ?th birthday with the higop gang and a couple more friends (kuya Dex and Liezel) at Puerto Galera. We all thought that it wouldn’t push through after all those planning we did because of typhoon Emong. But with all our prayers combined, not to mention the dozen eggs that Mox offered to Sta. Clara, we experienced the other side of Galera. Although it was still raining, we had a grand time hiking, swimming, cooking and of course eating at the foot of Tukuran Falls. Too bad Terry weren't able to join us.

Summer also welcomes a handful of movies that we’ve been looking forward to seeing. Here’s my take on some of them that we saw over summer:

Angels and Demons. Disappointing, really. Da Vinci Code was way better if you ask me. They made a lot of changes from the book. That should have been okay but the fast pace of the story was not captured well in the movie. That and the fact that he leading lady’s acting was pathetic made me feel sorry I even watched it on its first showing day.

Star Trek. I’m not a Star Trek fanatic. I entered the theater prepared to get lost in the universe of… well, the universe through the USS Enterprise. I was surprised to find myself enjoying the movie; what’s more, I was actually able to follow it. Now that alone makes it a good movie to me.

X-men the Origin: Wolverine. After the movie, I have tons of questions to Buboy, much like after we watched all the other X-men movies. It was entertaining though of course I have very little knowledge of the world of the mutants so try not to persecute me.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Definitely a children’s movie, so yeah, I enjoyed it. This movie reminds me why I like children’s stories; it brings me to different places that I can’t reach right now.

Terminator Salvation. Aside from my irritation over how Kate Connor was portrayed and Bale’s usual character voice, the movie does not disappoint. There are a lot of interesting characters including that of a part-robot, part-human Marcus Wright.

BFF (Best Friends Forever). This is the only local movie that I watched and not with Buboy but with some of my officemates. The movie and its story weren’t so great but what the heck, it was funny and that’s what we came for anyway… to laugh really hard.

Aside from movies, Buboy and I enjoyed some late night TV series marathon and poker sessions. We finished the last season of Grey’s Anatomy and the first season of a new series called Fringed (Science). Buboy and I bought our first 300 pieces chips poker set and had a head to head game with a couple of beers the week we had the set. Hopefully we can arrange poker nights soon and play with whoever can make it.

And the season of summer is over. Too bad we weren’t able to go camping at Anawangin. Well, maybe in a couple of months. We still haven’t got a tent yet anyway.

Reunions

Last week, April 19 was the grand reunion homecoming of our high school in celebration of its centennial anniversary. Terry and I went together with my sisters Weng and Juvie. It was fun to see old faces again. It was just sad because the event wasn't well advertised that not many alumni were informed. In fact there were only six attendees from Weng's batch and eight from Juvie's. It was good that my batch mates pretty much did everything they could to invite everyone as about forty of us went. The whole event brought back memories of experiences that shaped my adolescence. I'll probably be posting the class picture we took as soon as i had it scanned later.

Then last Saturday, April 25 was an outing/reunion of sort of Buboy's family. It was my mother-in-law's birthday and we went swimming in a private pool at Calamba, Laguna. Buboy's family is small and it's nice to see them together all at once as this happens very seldom. It's because his sister lives in Laguna and his brother lives in Bulacan unlike my immediate family who practically live together. I told Buboy that we should really do this reunion-like gathering with his family at least once a year.

Anyway, Buboy discovered that he can sing more than twenty songs in one sitting during our family outing. He literally sang for almost two hours and received at least eight 100 scores. He said he now has a favorite - Though the Years of Kenny Rogers. Well, I don't mind. I love that song!

Pictures to follow.

Hospital scene

I guess i better blog about my hospital experience, not for anything else, but for the sheer fact that this has been my first in the past 20 years and i wouldn't even be there if not for the fact that i don't have a nebulizer at home.

I think my cough started the last time i jogged about 2 weeks ago. I was so sweaty and there was a cold breeze during my walk back to the office. The next day i knew something is up. I didn't jog again because i started coughing already. Then the cold came. Then the next thing i knew imy nose was so clogged i couldn't breath through my nose and my throat hurt from trying to cough out all the phlegm and later my voice was slowly going out. I couldn't sleep for a couple of days until i decided that i need to see a doctor already. Mind you, i wasn't exactly excited about this thought.

Then last Wednesday, Buboy told me that perhaps it's better for me to get confined to a hospital. The idea of sleeping in an air conditioned room struck me. Why not? I haven't used my HMO card. So we made plans and decided that Medical City is the best choice we have. We went to work Wednesday morning, me mostly just to get all the paperwork ready for my confinement. Right after lunch we head down to Medical City's ER.

I was immediately checked at the ER, blood works and x-ray. However, doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me aside from my clogged sinus. They were a bit hesitant to recommend me for inpatient care. Then my attending doctor at the ER said i better stay there for a couple of days to rest. Yey! i was so happy i texted Terry and Mox immediately.

My first visitors were my two bestfriends! Mox arrived shortly after i got settled in my room and Buboy left to get some supplies from Pasig. A few minutes later Terry was there as well. They stayed until almost midnight. The following night Juvie and Benny came with 3 servings of palabok. We prayed the Station of the Cross at the hospital chapel after Juvie and Benny left.

I slept most of the time i was in the hospital and Buboy did the same if he's not watching TV. Our bill was more than 13k but Buboy paid only P15 for a glass i didn't realized i requested. However, we spent almost 3k for food, parking and outpatient medines. But we did enjoy the fact that while others are suffering the haet outside, we were comfortably cool in my room at the 11th floor.

BTW, Buboy was the best caretaker there is!

My 35th birthday

I celebrated my birthday with Buboy last weekend. We booked a room at Holiday Inn Galleria and spent Saturday night there. We didn’t have dinner Saturday night because we had a late lunch of steak but we bought a pint of ice cream, chips and soda for some night snack while watching TV. The next day, we celebrated Mass at the Edsa Shrine after a late buffet breakfast at the hotel then had steak again for late lunch at Chilli's. The food trip alone made up for the fact that I had my period that weekend. It was nice, spending the weekend with just the two of us. We had a corner room with two full glass walls. The bed was a bit springy at first but really comfy and I love the pillows. We’re thinking of doing it again next month.

However, the pounds I lost through jogging were instantly back after that weekend. I cannot believe how fast my weight bounced back. I didn’t have a weigh-in before I started jogging, but I noticed some changes in my middle part after several sessions. However, I couldn’t be disappointed about a nice, relaxing weekend, can I? At least it proves that jogging really makes a difference for me. I jogged again last Wednesday and I’m supposed to again tonight, but it’s currently raining. I don’t know how long this rain would last. The weather these days can really be confusing.

hot air balloon fest

Last weekend, Buboy and I went to see lots of things that fly at the 14th hot air balloon festival at Clarkfield, Pampanga. It was a fun and different way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. True enough, we saw a lot of flying things such as small airplanes (2-seater), sky gliders, sky divers, helicopters, loads of kites, and of course hot air balloons in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Some of the events that we didn’t miss (hey, we need to catch up on some sleep a few hours there in the park) are the hot air balloon flight, aerobatic flight display, Philippine Navy and PNP skydiving show, skydiving exhibition, light airplane balloon busting competition, kite flying, and the hot air balloon night glow. There were also photo exhibits with amazing pictures that makes me want to take up photography too.

The airfield was covered with people of all ages. We saw a lot of baby carriages and granny wheelchairs too. It was good judgment on buboy’s part that we brought a banig as we position ourselves in the middle of the crowds with tents and mats. Being Valentine’s Day, there were two really sweet proposals via sky gliders that day. But it doesn’t change the fact that it was a true family affair. I’m glad buboy took me there.

Sagada... again

Buboy and I went to Sagada for the second time in 2008, this time with my sister Weng. We were mesmerized and truly captured by the beauty of Sagada and its people when we reached it at the tail of our January 2008 Northern exposure trip that we made a promise to ourselves to go back, and we did! This time our trip there was in the middle of a very long Christmas holiday vacation, thus the place was beaming with tourist, local and otherwise. Even the president (GMA) visited Sagada while we're there.

We went caving again, though instead of the big cave exploration (Sumaging Cave) we opted to try the cave connection. It’s a bit more exciting (not to mention exhausting) as we entered the burial cave and came out of Sumaging cave. It was a 4-hour tour inside the cave but it tested my endurance and patience and I found out I still have enough stamina so it was well worth it. The next day we hiked to the big falls. It was an hour-long hike down a rice terraces. The falls is so majestic and its crystal clear cool water refreshes us after a long hike under the sun. But the hike back up almost crashed all the energy I had left.

The thing that makes us want to go back there over and over again is not only the refreshingly cold mountain air and the striking landscape with all the adventures it brings, but also the Sagadan people who have shown us nothing but warmth and hospitality. Truly Sagada may be considered the last frontier of Luzon.

Life goes on

Juvie's wedding got rained. Well, not like it's something new.. my wedding got rained too. Okay, mine was a little drizzle compared to what poured down last Sept. 8. But the good thing about Juvie's was that the emcees pushed through with the program despite the heavy rain. It was fun. And i was pleased that many complimented my dress.. but i'm pretty pissed because the deejay kept changing CDs. Can't seem to get through his head that the CDs we gave him contains the "sound" especially prepared (by me) for the wedding. ahrg! Buboy was very supportive. Again, he tire himself by being a volunteer errand man coming and going to the house to fetch something for the party at the clubhouse. The newly wed was happy and they looked great and their parents cried and the guests stayed to finished the party. What more can they asked for?

Neo came to attend the wedding though he only got to see the church ceremony. He stayed home during the reception party because of the heavy rain. We bought him a stroller and so Tatay always brings him along (when it's not raining) for his early morning walk. Neo is a good boy.. always smiling.. seldom cries. I hope he can stay that way always.

Saturday before the wedding Buboy and i were invited by Terry to spend the night at Taal Vista Lodge in Tagaytay courtesy of her office. Who can refuse? We lounge around the hotel and relaxed a bit before we were dragged to a road trip. Taal Vista is indeed a nice hotel. I plan to ask Buboy to book us in again sometime this year.

Well, some problem between Buboy and i popped up right after the big day of Juvie and Benny. We're okay now. But it gave us quite a scare. I realized a lot of things during that time.. and how much i love my husband is one of them. Now, we're moving on.. one day at a time.. but i know i have to do something. There are times between now and that day that i feel relaxed again and thought that perhaps everything is okay now and that nothing like that is going to happen to us again and i don't have to worry anymore.. but i know it's wrong so i force myself to stay focused and do what i must do. It's a bit hard really but hopefully what i'll do will save not only us but Buboy and myself as well.

Oh, and i know i haven't written anything about the "Ultraelectromagneticnight" but i guess a lot of things have been said about it already anyway.. what else is there to say? Well, maybe that we had fun though we felt bitin.

That's it.. life goes on.. and i dare myself to be an active participant of life from now on..

Eraserheads reunion concert

I cannot believe i'll be watching the Eraserhaeds Reunion Concert tomorrow!

For awhile there i thought i won't be able to see Ely, Raymund, Buddy and Marcus performing in the same band again. But hey, i already got tickets!

I'm so excited because it's been such a long time since Mox and i went to a concert and i have never seen a concert with Buboy before, this will be the first. It'll be fun to watch one of my favorite bands with two of the closest people in my life. I am sure it's gonna be awesome

I'll write more about it after tomorrow.

movies! movies! movies!

Last night Buboy and I went to watch Sex and the City. I love those girls. I finished the series and I have my own copy of all the six seasons. Buboy knows this so he just has to say yes to me when I asked to watch it on its first showing day. I enjoyed the movie very much. Buboy said it’s very predictable. Yes I agree but it’s also very entertaining. It’s the same Sex and the City that I loved watching years ago. I got to have a copy of that too.

Speaking of movies, we watched Indiana Jones last week and Iron Man a couple of weeks ago… both on its first showing day. They too were very entertaining, though it was a bit weird to me that this Indy movie has an alien twist to it. And Iron Man… now that’s a different story. Unlike Indiana Jones, I never heard of Iron Man until Buboy started talking about it since he heard Hollywood is making a movie of it. I was ignorant about this super hero that I was surprised I liked the movie. I’m even looking forward to its sequel. Buboy has written an amazing piece on it.

Moving on to comic super heroes… I’m patiently waiting for Hulk. Not because I’m a fan of this incredible hero but because I’m a fan of Edward Norton who will be staring on it. Another film (from comics) I’m looking forward to seeing is the second movie of Hellboy. We saw the trailer last night and it was amazing. I have no doubt that I’ll enjoy it like I did the first one.

I'm sure Buboy and I will be going to Metrowalk this weekend for some DVD’s to watch at home. Also, I’ll be meeting with Diane for my bag hook. These and the prospect of sleeping until lunch makes the weekend wait seem unbearable.

Summer outing

Tomorrow we are going to Buboy's company outing. Tomorrow is my company outing too. We decided to join Buboy's & skip mine. Come to think of it, i'm not much into company excursions. I have been working for more than 10 years and have only joined a company summer trip once, twice if you count another outing of Buboy's two years ago. I'm just not comfortable. Years ago it was because of my legs but these days it's because of my tummy. I love going to the beach. I have loved it since I went to Boracay with my college friends so many years ago. Being with close friends and family in a swim wear doesn't bother me much, but being seen with all my imperfections by people who don't really know me is a bit too much for me to handle. I guess having Buboy beside me helps, besides i'm going to his outing (not mine) for the 2nd time, it must mean something.

Speaking of outings, our college barkada trip to subic is postponed indefinitely. It was supposed to be an excursion with our families. But putting it together is not as easy as organizing outings when we were all single. Times do change. But I really hope we can fix something up soon. Our yearly get-together is not enough to keep up with what's happening with all of us. I don't want us to out-grow each other, it's the saddest thing that could happen to a great friendship.

4th wedding anniversary

Today is our wedding anniversary. We have been together for 10 years now, 4 years as husband and wife. I still can’t believe we’ve been together that long. Sometimes I even forget I am married to Buboy! Now don’t get me wrong. I take it as something positive. I mean, at least I know I’m not getting bored with my husband. Our life has not become ordinary and he has continued to be interesting to me. Believe me, I still get excited over meeting Buboy after work and still feel like we're on a date every time we go out. We have been together long enough to grow up together that it is amazing we still discover lots of surprising things about each other.

But not everyday is a sunny day for us. Buboy and I are but (very) ordinary couple after all. I’m just glad to have lots of happy moments that drown up the bad ones when needed. I know we’ll continue to stock up on positive experiences to will last us our lifetime.

And yes Mec, the best is yet to come.

Family outing '08

First weekend of April, my family and I went to Ilocos. It was a return for Buboy and me since it was one of the places we visited during our two-week tour of northern Philippines early this year. Pagudpud was one of the highlights of our trip then and since it is summer, we decided to go back and bring my family along. Pagudpud is also a great venue for the pre-nuptial pictorial of Juvie and Benny so we brought Gene, the photographer, to the trip too. Of course the Higop Gang won’t be complete without Mox so she left her precious little bubbles (her dog) to the care of someone else during our 3-day trip.

Buboy was the only driver of the trip and I’m his ever efficient co-pilot. I swear I have improved my map reading skills since our January escapade (of which I’ll write about too… soon). Pagudpud is roughly an eleven hour drive from Manila, that’s exclusive of stop-over for some stretching. We left Pasig around 10pm on Thursday and arrived at Laoag in time for breakfast and some last minute grocery purchase the following day. Pagudpud greeted us with its midday sun. The place is wonderful! It’s definitely a breather because you can see more beach than people unlike Galera and Boracay on summer. The rest of what remains of the day was spent for the pre-nup pictorial at the beach and the windmills.

Saturday was beach day! Even though Buboy was dead-tired the previous day, we actually woke up early to enjoy the beach with the rest of the gang. Even Nanay and Tatay had fun waddling on the sand and sea.

Sunday is again a hectic day for everyone as we prepared early to leave Pagudpud and visit other parts of Ilocos. My parents are big Marcos fans so we just had to bring them to Batac to see the Marcos Museum.

We also went to see the majestic Paoay Church.

And of course Vigan. Nanay and Tatay actually celebrated the mass at the Vigan Cathedral… in Ilocano. I don’t think they understood anything. Then we strolled down the historic cobbled street of Calle Crisologo and did some shopping.

It was after dinner already when we started out for Manila. We arrived in Pasig almost 6:00am. Naturally, we were all tired and sleepy by then, especially Buboy and me who had to stay awake during the long drive back.

It was a fun trip. I was especially happy to see that my parents were able to endure the long drive and actually had fun. For me, the hero of the trip is Buboy. He made the trip enjoyable. He was awake more than 24 hours of our first day and more than 24 hours again of our last day. He never complained and he never frowned. He kept his cool and had fun with the rest of us. Now that defines a vacation hero in my dictionary! Thanks so much love. Iloveyousomuch!

Boys Night Out

For months now, Buboy has been a happy and satisfied listener of Boy’s Night Out, a night-time show of the radio station Magic 89.9 FM. The show is hosted by three male DJs who talk about randomly selected (boys') topic each night. Of course, they also encourage listeners to join in the discussion/kulitan. I admit I also enjoyed listening to them because I get a feel of how boys think and because I love seeing how Buboy react to the discussions. I swear there were times Buboy would burst out with loud laughter or join in the discussion by voicing his opinion or side of the story to me. And I love how Brando Braganza say “sexy time” with his deep sexy voice. There are even times I want to hear Buboy say it to me too… in the same deep sexy voice of course. *kilig*

Listening to the three grown-up boys, tony-tony, slick rick and king dj logan, has been a nightly habit for us. We listen to them as we drive home from the office. Yesterday, Buboy told me that king dj logan left the station (and the show) for another FM station. Everyone was surprised, including the two other hosts of the show. Logan’s absence was noticeably sad (?) as he was the ring leader of the boys. He has the strongest personality and his co-host and listeners alike responds to his jokes and teasing so well. Last night was the first time the show seems dull. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because tony-tony and slick rick are not competent hosts. They are a couple of intelligent djs but something is missing…

I hope they get a new ring-master to save the show. And I hope they get one soon. I miss “sexy time” already.

Flixster

Flixster is a site for movie fans. It’s a fun site where one can read the latest movie news and gossips, learn about new releases, take or create movie quizzes, watch videos, browse or upload pictures of different actors or review movies. That is aside from being a place where one can chat with people with the same interest. Click here to take a peek of the site.

I got invited to flixster by a friend. Honestly, I joined so that I can invite Buboy who is a real fanboy of movies and comics. I wanted him to have a place where he can express his ideas, meet people with the same interest as his and be creative. Buboy joined flixster more than 8 months ago but he didn’t get active until about after 5 months from signing up. And now he’s the one reminding to me visit my account! *sigh*

I really want to write a movie or book review someday so I’m holding on to my flixster account and maybe start by writing comments on the hundreds of movies listed there. But right now, I am content using it to communicate with Buboy (chatting) and in getting to know more about him through the insights he shares in the site. *wink*

Beers Anyone?

“Dammit!”

It’s scorching-hot today at the office. It’s the kind of heat that comes at you from all directions, like being wrapped from head to toe in a warm blanket while being cooked in an oven that’s set all the way up to “high”.

“Is the air-conditioning working?” you ask yourself. All it seems to be doing is pumping in the hot air from outside of the room. *Whew* you try to cool down… you drink-in water by the bucket loads, (and yes… its warm. Nothing’s cold enough on a day like this) and drinking really doesn’t help. All you accomplish is to get your bladder filled up faster and piss every fifteen minutes.
Even being in the comfort room is hard labor, by the time you get out; you’re already soaked in sweat and feeling even more thirsty than when you first went in (Damn!... Now you have to go get a drink again!). You go back to your chair. You lay your head back and gently rub your temples… now you’ve got a headache…. “perfect… just perfect” you think to yourself.

You close your eyes and try to think of things to get your mind off the heat. Beers come to mind… ice-cold beers…. now that’s what you really need right now. You see yourself pressing that San-Mig Lite against your cheek, feeling the refreshing cold trickle down your face as the ice melts on the bottle. You take a swig and stretch out…. You’re not in the office anymore…. You’re on the beach, beneath a shady palm tree. Twilight is coming; right about the time when the first cool breeze comes in from the sea. The red-orange sun shimmers against the water. The waves call you out with each gentle crash against the sandy shore. You plunge into the water. You dive, deep… deeper… feeling as much a part of the grand marine life with every stroke and kick you make. You bask in the majesty of the ocean depths for a moment… or a lifetime… you can’t tell the difference anymore… then you go back up, breathing in sweet salty fresh air as you break the surface. You come back to the shore and lie down on the soft sand just in time to see the stars come out one by one on the darkening sky… like small lights being turned on by the gods. You reach for another beer. As you take another icy cold swig, you close your eyes and take in the sounds of the newborn night… the soft breath of the evening air as it breezes across your face… the harmonious chirp-chirping of crickets as they welcome the night in song… the gentle crash of the waves as they end their journey on the sandy beach thump… thump… thump… thump… … the… hey wait a minute, that didn’t sound like any wave I’ve heard before. thump… thump… thump… thump… what is that? Puzzled by this mystery of the night, you open your eyes….

…. right in time to see a man-mountain that you usually call your boss glaring down on your pathetic just-woke-up-face while he’s drumming his fingers on your desk: thump… thump… thump… thump…

“….what the f*ck are you doing? It’s already half past one in the afternoon! Wake the hell up and get your lazy-a$$ back to work!!!!”

“Dammit!”

……………

Chebong and I are going to the beach this friday…. Here’s to a cool weekend of sun, surf and beers!!!!

waffle weekend

I have been wanting to write what Buboy and i did on my bday and the waffle-cooking trial we did last sunday but i got so busy. Anyway, here it is...

My birthday
Buboy picked me up before 3:00pm and we went to Market!Market! We ate dinner at Giligan's and bought bday cupcakes from sonja's cupcake at serendra. Before going home we dropped by bookworm to browse. I started reading the orange girl by jostein gaarder and Buboy bought it for me as a present. Then we went home. It wasn't much when you read it like that but it was really a wonderful day for me. I mean being able to cut work and slip away with my hubby:0)

Waffle-cooking
Well, it's a waffle feast because we cooked so much waffle we weren't able to finish them all:) It was really a bit crazy. Mox, Buboy and I met at galleria to buy the stuff we need then we went to Mox's place to do our thing. We tried (i think) 5 recipes including the control (ready-mix pancake, i forgot the brand). It was sooo hot and the kitchen sink cannot be used so we had to wash the dirty dishes and stuff either outside or in the bath. But i think that was a pretty successful activity. We learned the trick to make the waffle full and not hollow inside and we discovered that we'll need a squeezer so it wont be messy, among other things. We identified a recipe that we all liked and we know we can modify to perfection:0) We will be meeting again next week for the second run of the waffle-cooking trial.

our first waffles!! yum,yum!!

nice to feel warm

My husband was the sweetest last night.

We got home a bit early last night, before 9:00pm. And Buboy said "let's not watch a movie (vcd/dvd) tonight, i'll just read to you." He's been reading the book stardust of neil gaiman to me for a few nights now. He reads a chapter or two a night before we go to sleep. Last night he read three or four chapters. In the middle of his reading, he stopped and said "ito ang pinakamasaya sa araw ko" then he kissed me and went back to reading the book. I was really moved.

And today, i was going through the blog of my best friend and found several posts she wrote about me. I am so touched.

Wala lang... i feel warm inside and i want to remember how this feels always :0)

cried a good cry

My husband and i received a letter from a very good friend, Mec. We found it waiting for us in our bedroom when we arrived home very early Sunday morning (3:00am). We came from a wake and we stopped by the new mall at the back of serendra fort for a cup of coffee at CB&TL so it was already very late when we got home.

At first i thought it was just a "thank you for your sympathy" thing since Mec's nephew passed away last December and we went to the wake. Then i noticed the picture... it was a very pregnant tummy with 2 sets of hands holding it. I looked at my husband who already knew what it means, he looked back at me tenderly. And i just started to cry... and cry... and cry. And Buboy just held me tight. He knew it's what i needed--to cry. He kept telling me he loves me. And i wanted to tell him i love you too and thank you for sharing my pain, instead, i said i'm sorry.

Mec is pregnant. And though i'm happy for my friend because she's been wanting to have a baby also, i felt sorry for myself because we still don't have our own miracle. But i will always appreciate how Mec broke the news. How she gave me a good cry:) Well, Mec and i cried together many times in the past because we know that sometimes people need to cry out their pain to start healing.

I do pray that Mec and her baby will be healthy and that my friend enjoys her pregnancy and not forget to wear sexy clothes as her tummy grows:) i love you friend!

And i love you so much Buboy! You are the best thing that ever happened to me. And no matter what happens, i will always be happy and grateful that i have you beside me.
